The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season.

The twenty-seven-year-old captured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic £11m in prize money.

She received nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking 13-month break after the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
