A man from Australia who jumped over a barricade and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been sent away and prohibited from Singapore.

The individual, 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in prison for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control told local media.

He forced his way past photographers and charged at the celebrity, who was attending the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

The individual has a record of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.

The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of causing further distress to the star.

The singer has discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her performance in Manchester in May 2017 killed over twenty people and affected hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the authorities learned he had attempted to intrude on the film's premiere multiple times, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a follow-up try to breach security. Protection personnel intercepted him and held him in place.

Wen later posted videos appreciating the celebrity for letting him on the carpet and said he was "at liberty."

Police took him into custody the next day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Presiding Judge the judicial official was referenced by Channel News Asia as stating that the man sought attention, adding that he was wrong to assume he would not suffer any consequences.

The actress has not spoken about the situation.

Cynthia Erivo discussed the incident to a media outlet, saying that she "just wanted to make sure my co-star was secure."

"I believe he didn't intend us harm, but you never know with these incidents, and I sought to make sure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she said.
