Eulogies Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt able to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A court order put a embargo on the cases to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
Following the killings, public figures expressed varying reactions.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial claims that were broadly criticized by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the critics last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and suggested they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser should have stepped in when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
