British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world shared condolences for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
