The winter break present a multitude of activities far superior than scanning the updates: unwrapping gifts, getting stuffed on festive fare, and harnessing patience techniques to avoid yelling at family members. It is wished you succeeded in accomplish all these things and more. However, the world of entertainment doesn't take a break, and this is notably true for the realm of anime. Numerous exciting announcements surfaced over the holidays, and if you missed some of them, here is a compilation of the most exciting bits.

The One-Punch Man Series Its Third Season Is Moving Forward (In 2027)

Perhaps the biggest piece of news, the widely-criticized controversial season that was the third season of One-Punch Man failed to stop the series' continuation. The show will come back with a subsequent part in 2027—so far away they might as well have labeled it season 4. Adding to the surprise, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be leading the project. On a positive note this time, director Shinpei Nagai is set to direct from the outset, which might be a good sign. Yet, the promotional image for the second cour is the same image the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This makes me think that, by now, they are probably teasing the fans.

The Ruri Dragon Series Is Set to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime Produced By Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has established a name for being an elite animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the exceptional quality of its work but for the good working conditions of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had not adapted an anime based on a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, arguably the most famous magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo achieved a huge following when it debuted in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a lengthy break due to the author's health issues. When it resumed publication with a reduced workload, the series demonstrated it hadn't lost the fans' appreciation and positive sentiment, and now fans are overjoyed about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.

Kingdom Season 6 Has a Sequel Now in the Works

Kingdom is the top-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is not One Piece. If you've never heard of it before, it's because it only just received an English release, but the anime has been going on for a while, and season 6 was a further stellar entry. It turns out that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been revealed as currently being made, and it will probably air in 2026.

Science Saru Is Adapting A Witch in Mongolia To Anime

One more studio known for the superior craftsmanship of its projects, Science Saru has brought us critically acclaimed works of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be producing the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, based on the real historical figure of Fatima, an powerful woman and thinker in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Based on the trailer, the anime named Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a highly unique and captivating visual style, which reminds me a bit of Ranking of Kings. Scheduled to launch in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my must-watch list.

The Tougen Anki Series Is Set to Continue With a Season Two

Shortly after the release of episode 24, it was revealed that Tougen Anki will be getting a second season. Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki is based on the manga by Yura Urushibara. The upcoming season of the anime will adapt the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a specific release date has not been disclosed yet.
